Brunei Darussalam’s 3×3 basketball team left the country yesterday to take part in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup Qualifier in Singapore, which begins today.
Led by On Wei Yeah as the head of contingent, the players include Jake Chong, Lim Liang Wei, Jayden Chen, Lim Yih Shyang with William Ching and Kelvin Chai as reserve under the helm of head coach Ben Sim.
The national team largely comprise young players which served to expose Brunei’s young potential to international competition.
On Wei Yeah said, “This is our first time participating in the international 3×3 competition and our competitors are much more experienced.”
He added, “With our preparation, I am confident that our players will perform to their best and grow from this experience.”
Brunei have been drawn in the same group with Iran, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
The national team will face Iran today followed by matches against Malaysia and Hong Kong tomorrow.
