The secret ingredient for the 7th Brunei Film Blitz is nasi katok.
This was announced at the launch of the short film competition at Mahakarya Institute of the Arts yesterday.
The 96-hour film blitz expects participants to produce a three to six-minute short film within four days with nasi katok having a significant role in the storytelling.
The 7th Brunei Film Blitz saw 70 registrations, three times the number last year, with some 85 per cent of production companies from the region.
Festival Director Siti Kamaluddin acknowledges the growth of the competition since it began in 2017. She said it has become a platform for filmmakers to network and launch their careers.
The rise in international participants is inline with the festival organiser’s vision for the Sultanate to become a filming destination for regional filmmakers.
Film submission deadline is 10am on December 10. The winners will be announced at the Brunei Film Blitz Screening and Gala ceremony on December 13. – Adib Noor
