Myanmar reports three deaths, 1,596 new COVID cases

YANGON (ELEVEN MEDIA GROUP/ANN) – Myanmar reported 1,596 new COVID-19 confirmed cases on March 5 bringing the total number of cases to 597,417, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced.

A total of 24,838 samples were tested between 8pm of March 4 and 8pm of March 5 and 1,596 people tested positive for COVID-19.

Moreover, three patients died from the virus during the period, bringing the total number of deaths to 19,386, according to the MOH. A total of 7,237,739 samples were tested.

Also on Saturday, 1,089 patients were allowed to be discharged from their respective hospitals, bringing the total number of those discharged to 545,865, it reported.

Due to rising Covid-19 numbers, Myanmar’s Foreign Affairs Ministry had further extended the entry restrictions for all travellers until the end of March amid the pandemic.

The extension will be applied to the entry of all travellers, the issuance of all types of visas and visa exemptions services until March 31.
