YANGON (XINHUA) – Myanmar exported more than 1.05 million tonnes of beans and pulses within eight months of this fiscal year 2023-2024, according to the Ministry of Commerce yesterday.
From April 1 to December 1 this year, Myanmar earned over USD895.413 million from the exports of beans and pulses, the ministry’s data showed. During the cited period, Myanmar shipped over 924,142 tonnes of beans and pulses via sea routes and transported over 135,239 tonnes of beans and pulses through land borders, the data said.
According to the ministry, beans and pulses are Myanmar’s second-most cultivated crops after rice and account for over 30 per cent of the country’s total agricultural production.
Myanmar exports beans and pulses to China, India and European countries.
