YANGON (XINHUA) – Myanmar earned over USD1.6 million from exporting over 1,100 tonnes of honey in the first nine months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year starting April last year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation said yesterday.
Honey exports during this period were down compared to the same period last fiscal year, when the country earned about USD2.4 million from around 1,600 tonnes of honey, an official at the livestock breeding and veterinary department of the ministry said.
The Southeast Asian country exports honey to countries including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Germany and China, he added.
The main honey-producing areas in the country are Magway, Sagaing, Mandalay regions, and Shan state, according to the official.
