The Haj Management Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) concluded the 32nd Haj Muzakarah for 2025 with a closing ceremony at the Multaqa Hall, Ground Floor, additional building of the ministry yesterday.
The event marked another step towards enhancing the understanding and management of the haj pilgrimage.
Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim was the guest of honour.
In a speech, he highlighted the significance of haj, referencing verse 97 of Surah Ali-’Imran, commanding Muslims to perform haj if able, and a hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari emphasising the transformative spiritual experience of the pilgrimage.
The guest of honour also acknowledged the department’s efforts to upgrade the haj registration system with the implementation of an online platform, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernising pilgrimage management.
The event featured a keynote presentation by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan Director of Core Knowledge Centre Haji Md Syahiran bin Haji Md Sofian on the theme ‘Haji Fardhu vs Haji Mabrur’.
This was followed by a summary of the muzakarah resolutions presented by Acting Assistant Director of Haj Management Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali.
Some 136 participants attended the muzakarah, including haj and umrah instructors, teachers, new Muslim mentors, preachers, mosque officials, and representatives from umrah package operators.
Discussions covered jurisprudential issues, the philosophy of the haj, and updates on the holy sites’ conditions, such as Arafah and Mina.
The muzakarah also addressed the latest policies and regulations from Saudi Arabia, ensuring that Brunei’s pilgrims are well-prepared for the haj season. – Fadley Faisal
