Change often requires sacrifice and courage to overcome fear, including the fear of failure, societal judgment, and the inability to remain steadfast. However, Muslims are encouraged to overcome these fears in seeking the pleasure of Allah.

This was highlighted in a tazkirah titled “Berani untuk Berubah” (Courage to Change) delivered by Muhammad Safwan bin Mohd Suffian, Assistant Religious Development Officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre, during the 169th Munajat Night organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was among those in attendance.

The event was attended by special guest Haji Mohamad Samari bin Haji Mohamad Noh, Deputy Registrar (Administration, Human Resources, and Estate) at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), who led the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Al-Fatihah from Surau As-Syafi’i, UNISSA.

Also joining the event were members of the UNISSA Student Representative Council, Takmir Committee members, and congregants from 66 mosques, suraus, and prayer halls across the country. Officials from MoRA and its departments, as well as individuals participating virtually from their homes, also took part in the gathering.

The collective recitation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah was led by Awangku Muhd Afig Hanif bin Pengiran Md Hadzarin, Exco and Head of the Religious Affairs and Takmir Unit, Surau As-Syafi’i, UNISSA. The Munajat prayer was read by Abdul Muhaimin bin Dr Haji Serbini, Mosque Affairs Officer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

The congregation then engaged in the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, led by Mohammad Shafiq Hisyamuddin bin Rosli, President of the UNISSA Student Representative Council (2024/2025). The event concluded with a prayer for the well-being of Brunei Darussalam, led by Haji Mohd Khairul Azmi bin Haji Bakar, Mosque Affairs Officer from Kampong Serdang Mosque.

Munajat Night is a weekly spiritual event aimed at strengthening faith through istighfar, Quranic recitations, and collective supplications, seeking divine protection for Brunei and its people from calamities and diseases.
