Distribution of the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Mushaf Waqaf (endowment) has begun regionally as well as to Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB), religious schools, Arabic schools, primary and secondary schools and new Muslim converts in the country.
The distribution comes following overwhelming public response to the UNISSA Mushaf Waqaf programme, which began on February 16.
Copies of the locally written UNISSA Mushaf have been distributed to the Muslim community through several mosques and madrasahs in Ho Chi Minh, Tay Ninh and An Giang regions in Vietnam.
Among them are Al-Rahim Mosque, Jamiul Islamiyah Mosque, Al-Nur Madrasah, Jamiul Muslimin Mosque, Musulmane Mosque, Tay Ninh Provincial Mosque, Mubarakiyah Surau, Tahfiz Azhar Madrasah, Mukarrohmah Mosque and Azhariyah Surau.
The distribution was also extended to Phnom Penh in Cambodia, with a UNISSA representative handing over the copies to Cambodian Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Nos Sles. Copies have also been presented to madrasahs around Phnom Penh in Cambodia, including An-Nikmah Madrasah, Dubai Islamic Madrasah and the Cambodian Islamic Centre.
UNISSA opened up the UNISSA Mushaf Waqaf Project to the public in February, providing a special link to make it easier for them to register using e-forms and make payments online.
In the first phase, UNISSA allocated 20,000 copies of its Mushaf for the Waqaf project, targetting mosques, suraus, religious halls, educational institutions, new Muslim converts and foreign institutions or organisations as recipients.
To date, UNISSA has received favourable response with the public ordering 5,601 copies for endowment. The Mushaf Waqaf project is still open to the public.
Meanwhile, Mushaf Waqaf will be distributed overseas in stages to places chosen by the UNISSA Waqaf Committee, according to public orders.
So far, copies of the UNISSA Mushaf Waqaf have been distributed to religious and tahfiz schools and mosques in Malaysia and Malang in Indonesia.
