Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad yesterday said the repair and upgrading work of Brunei Museum in Jalan Kota Batu is 84 per cent completed as of December 2023, during the 20th session of the Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi said, “The project faced contract conflicts requiring immediate action by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the Ministry of Development (MoD). The extension of project schedule was no longer given. Works ended on January 4 after the end of the last scheduled extension.
“Both ministries ended the contract of the consultant and contractor involved in the project and the MCYS is currently seeking advice from the Attorney General’s Chambers for legal action.
“Phase II of the project has opened for tender involving the setting up of the galleries. It was advertised on March 2 and the tendering process will close on April 2,” he said.
