Assistant Professor at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s Faculty of Usuluddin Dr Hajah Sarinah binti Haji Yahya highlighted the contents of Surah Al-Waqi’ah on Judgement Day and its events during the Munajat night for women on Saturday.
Dr Hajah Sarinah said the name Al-Waqi’ah is the name of the Day of Judgement, from the word ‘waqa’a’ which means ‘to happen’.
“This means that Judgement Day will happen when the time comes,” she said.
“The beginning of the surah spoke of the reality of death and explained how the Day of Resurrection will happen. It shows that this world is temporary and the real life is the hereafter. The surah also gives us good news by telling about the three main groups in the hereafter and their rewards.
“The signs of Allah the Almighty’s power in awakening and reward are also described in the surah, showing the mercy and justice of Allah the Almighty which is a very fair reckoning in the hereafter and abundant blessings in Heaven,” said the assistant professor.
Women Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam President Hajah Hassanah binti Haji Hassan led the reading of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah from Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang along with association members.
Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah teachers, female congregants from Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis /Madang, and female congregants from 10 other mosques were also present.
The spouse of Minister of Religious Affairs Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Asbi and officers and staff as well as family members of the Ministry of Religious Affairs also participated. – Azlan Othman
