Allah the Almighty has blessed mankind with the ability to use and control vehicles, highlighting the ultimate accountability to Allah the Almighty and the inevitable journey towards the afterlife, said Assistant Lecturer at the Research Centre for Jawi Studies and Turath Books Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak.
He said this highlighting the significance of verse 13 from Surah Az-Zukhruf, which includes the supplication for travelling, during a special Munajat yesterday.
Organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and coordinated by the National Road Safety Council (MKKJR), the event was held to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2024.
The event, the 160th of its kind, saw the collective recitation of Tahlil, led by Nazir Khas of the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) Haji Abdullah bin Haji Sahat, followed by Doa Munajat Khas recited by Acting Director of Haj Management Department at the MoRA Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohammad.
Level II religious teacher from Kampong Mata-Mata Religious School Haji Mohammad Amirul Rashid bin Haji Wahab led the collective recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, accompanied by officers, teachers and students from Beribi Religious School at Fathul Busyra Hall.
The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Mosque Affairs Officer at Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Haji Mohammad Izzat Izuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman participated from the MoRA Surau, while Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha joined from Ash-Shaliheen Mosque and led the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah.
Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries and members of the MKKJR, alongside teachers and students from religious schools under the JPI and virtual participants were also present.
The Munajat serves as a spiritual reflection on the importance of road safety and remembrance of those affected by road traffic incidents, underscoring collective efforts toward safer roads and communities. – Fadley Faisal
