The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) continued the virtual weekly Munajat event to invigorate and to usher in the holy month of Ramadhan.

The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, together with MoRA staff at the Multaqa Hall in Berakas.

This was followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Imam at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Muhd Amaluddin bin Haji Jamaluddin.

Doa Munajat to seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty and protection from disasters and dangerous diseases was led by Head of Istinbat, State Mufti’s Office Haji Abdul Rahman bin Pengarah Haji Mokti.

A religious talk entitled ‘Double Reward with At-Ta‘awun‘ Alal Birri Wattaqwa’ was delivered by religious education officer at Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School Zuratul Aini binti Dato Seri Setia Haji Rajid. She shared that the title of the talk were the words of Allah the Almighty at the end of the second verse of Surah Al-Maidah which means, “and help one another in virtue and piety instead in sin and enmity (a violation of the law of Allah the Almighty)”.

“From the verse, Al-Birr means good deeds that are beneficial to us and others, while At-taqwa is our obedience in following all the commands of Allah the Almighty and avoiding His prohibitions, done to seek blessings from Allah the Almighty.”

Zuratul Aini said, “We must remember what we need to achieve through our worship and charity is not only the blessings from Allah the Almighty but also from human beings. We are told to be pious because in that pious act, there is divine blessings.

“We are also told to help each other in matters of charity because of human blessing. This reflects the nature of Islam as a comprehensive religion that is holistic and a religion full of love.”

She added, “There must be a balance between the blessing of Allah the Almighty and mankind to attain true happiness and piety. Let us not carry out pious acts only for individuals alone, when we want to obtain the blessings of Allah the Almighty yet ignore mankind.

“However,” she added, “this does not mean that to get human blessing, we need to seek their praise. Do not anger other human beings with behaviours that hurt their feelings, or abuse their rights”.

Zuratul Aini called for Ummah to always help each other without expecting reward in return, “because what is important is the reward from Allah the Almighty”.

The Munajat event continued with the recitation of Zikir Taubat led by a member of the Human Resources Executive Committee, Da’ie youth volunteer Nor Azimah binti Haji Mustapa, together with Da’ie Youth Volunteers from the Mushalla Al-Ameen, PDI.

The event ended with the recitation of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan and Brunei Darussalam by mosque affairs officer Muhammad Amin bin Haji Salim from Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque,
Kampong Serusop.
