Authorities found multiple violations of the law following a recent joint operation in Kampong Sinarubai and Kampong Bengkurong Masin.
The operation comprised officers from the Brunei-Muara District Office Licensing and Enforcement Division, Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD).
The district office fined two companies BND4,000 each for offences under Section 12 (1) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.
Meanwhile, the RCED ordered seven individuals found in possession of six cartons and 12 packs of cigarettes to report to the Anggerek Desa Enforcement Office for further investigation.
All evidence found were issued a seizure notice.
The INRD inspected the foreign workers and found no wrongdoing. – Azlan Othman
