The opening ceremony of the Muallaf Icon programme for 1446 Hijrah was held at the Conference Hall of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) last Sunday.
The programme, jointly organised by the Secretariat of Youth Religious Programme of PDI, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth, aims to produce exemplary muallaf figures excelling in various aspects of human capital, based on the national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), as well as to provide support and training to those ready to become ambassadors for Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah by the Muallaf Icon participants, followed by Muhammad Khairul Aiman Akmal @ Yussof Almahdi bin Haji Rusli of Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth leading the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
Muhammad Saiful Dafi bin Muhammad Suhaimi @ Suanddy bin Suhaimi recited Al-Quran verses, with Muhammad Fadzrin Hazwin bin Abdul Alyan of Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth reading its interpretation.
The ceremony also saw Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Mohamad Danial @ Tekpin bin Ya’akub, as Penghulu of Mukim Ukong, the guest of honour, and Chairperson of Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth Nurul Nadzirah binti Haji Simpon deliver speeches, as well as a video presentation to launch the programme, and Muhd Muhaimin bin Muhd Zulkifli, a participant of Muallaf Icon programme, leading the oath reading. Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Hardifadillah bin Haji Mohd Salleh also attended.
The Muallaf Icon programme builds on the Muallaf Mantap programme from 2022. It emphasises religious practices such as congregational prayers, Munajat night and Qiamullail. The programme also trains participants in leadership and teamwork, promotes self-awareness through emotional and intelligence management, and involves them in community service, especially supporting other muallafs. – Rokiah Mahmud
