The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) held its annual engagement session with Legislative Council (LegCo) members at Amar Pahlawan Hall at the ministry’s building yesterday.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha welcomed the delegation of 17 LegCo members, led by LegCo member Yang Berhormat Mohammad Ali bin Tanjong.
The session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Mosque Affairs Officer at Kampong Pulaie Mosque Mohd Zakaria bin Haji Salleh, followed by welcoming remarks from the minister and a response from the head of the delegation.
In his speech, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary outlined MTIC’s strategic plan and ongoing projects, focusing on three key areas: safety and security; service excellence; and growth and development.
These initiatives align with MTIC’s 2025 Strategic Plan and the broader objectives of Brunei Vision 2035.
The engagement session serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration, continuing from previous working visits, including those to the E-Government National Centre (EGNC), Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), and a dialogue session at MTIC held on September 4, 2024.
Discussions centred on planning for the nation’s progress, with LegCo members providing input that will be considered in MTIC’s strategic roadmap for 2026–2030.
The session also featured an exhibition on the status and timeline of public transportation system upgrades, digital government initiatives, and key highlights of MTIC’s achievements in 2024. – Fadley Faisal
