MS ABDB clinch fifth straight win in BSL

MS ABDB clinched their fifth successive victory in the Brunei Super League 2024/2025 after defeating Jerudong FC 3-0 at the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Field on Wednesday.

The rescheduled tie saw the four-time champions close in fourth spot, just a point shy of current occupants Kota Ranger FC.

MS ABDB, who donned an all-orange strip, made an early change as Muhamad Abdul Hafiz Mohamad Sabri was replaced by the experienced Mohd Bahrin Hamidon in the 34th minute.

The substitute made an immediate impact in the game needing just three minutes to score after planting his header home past Jerudong goalkeeper Romaino Maripa following an assist from Muqaddim Abdul Rashid.

The armed forces personnel were rewarded a free-kick near the technical box after a player was impeded from advancing into the final third, with the referee brandishing a yellow card to the perpetrator for his troubles.

The opening half finished with promising signs of MS ABDB extending their lead as Mohd Hibatur Rahman Mohamad swung in a delightful cross into the box from a free-kick.

But, Mohammad Shafie Haji Mohd Effenddy was caught offside when he nodded home what he thought was the second of the game.

The second goal of the game arrived in the 50th minute as team captain Muhamad Razimie Ramli continued his good goal-scoring form since rejoining the club from DPMM FC.

The armed forces personnel enjoyed breathing space five minutes later as Mohd Bahrin completed his brace to put his side 3-0 up.

MS ABDB Head Coach Haji Md Yusof Haji Matyassin’s charges will play Wijaya FC next at the Berakas Sports Complex on Friday (Jan 31).
