Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC), through The Brunei Cancer Centre (TBCC), officially launched its Movember Men’s Health Awareness Month 2024 campaign on Sunday at One City Shopping Centre.
Under the theme “Strength Today, For A Healthier Tomorrow,” the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of men’s health and encourage proactive measures for the early detection and prevention of common health issues affecting men.
Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar was present as guest of honour to officially launch the event.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the Centre Director of TBCC Dr Haji Muhammad Syafiq Abdullah who highlighted the campaign’s aims to raise awareness on the importance of men’s health and encourage proactive measures for early detection and prevention of common health issues affecting men.
Following this, a special VESPA convoy ride was held, with more than 70 VESPA riders and motorbike participants from the VESPA Group and PJSC staff, who took part in a solidarity ride to raise awareness for men’s health.
The convoy departed from Jerudong Park Pusing Lagi Car Park and journeyed approximately 30 kilometres to One City Shopping Centre, drawing public attention and symbolising unity in promoting men’s health awareness.
The highlight of the event was the launch of Movember 2024 carried out by the guest of honour.
As a gesture of appreciation, PJSC presented certificates to key supporters and sponsors of the campaign as well as to campaign collaborators.
Throughout the day, visitors participated in a range of activities designed to educate and inspire. These included health assessments and consultations with healthcare professionals, which encouraged conversations about early detection, regular screenings, and healthy lifestyle choices. This reflected PJSC’s holistic approach to men’s healthcare.
In line with the global Movember initiative, PJSC aims to create a lasting impact that goes beyond awareness, encouraging men to take positive, long-term steps toward their well-being.
With informative sessions and interactive demonstrations, PJSC is dedicated to breaking down the stigmas surrounding men’s health, making it easier for men and their loved ones to engage in open discussions about health concerns. – James Kon
