The Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) agreed to enhance mutually beneficial collaboration following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
FABD President Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail and SAFF President Yasser Al Misehal signed the MoU. The ceremony was witnessed by FABD Deputy President Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni, Acting General Secretary Matali bin Haji Tahir and executive committee member Pengiran Haji Jufry bin Pengiran Haji Jeludin.
Under the MoU, both sides agree to strengthen their football associations relations which will provide mutual benefits in promoting progress and success in football.
In the aspect of coaching, SAFF also agreed to assist the preparation of a technical director, national football and futsal teams head coaches for mutually agreed projects.
In areas for football management and technical exchange, the academy in addition to the exchange of sports information such as marketing and commercial activities, sports facilities, education and research will further boost the efforts of both sides in enhancing the football development.
Meanwhile, the development of coaches, referees and the use of VAR is also a concern for both sides to explore together.
FABD and SAFF also explored the possibility to hold friendly matches in both countries involving national youth teams.
The agreement is viewed as a very significant outcome of the official visit held by the FABD President and delegation to Saudi Arabia last March. – Fadhil Yunus
