MoU enables Brunei businesses to leverage Singaporean expertise

The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Digital Economy Partnership Agreement International Centre (DEPA IC) as well as APAC Innovation and Collaboration Centre (AICC) at NCCIBD auditorium on Wednesday.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee was among those present at the signing.

According to the NCCIBD, the MoU “allows the three parties to tap business opportunities and cross-border digital possibilities created by the DEPA and its member countries”.

It signifies a milestone collaboration, allowing NCCIBD to leverage DEPA IC and AICC’s international networks and resources to help Bruneian companies to internationalise, innovate, immerse and transform through digitalisation.

“DEPA IC and AICC are honoured to have this opportunity to create values for Bruneian companies who are NCCIBD members and entrepreneurs under the Young Entrepreneurs Association,” DEPA IC and AICC said in a statement.

“The new business opportunities created by DEPA and the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) in ASEAN are boundless. Our international network and domain expertise across industry sectors especially on the digital and green sustainability will propel the growth and business opportunities to a new level. We look forward to the strategic partnership and collaboration with NCCIBD.“

The parties will use their experience to enhance international outreach and exposure through market immersion, business matching, digitalisation workshops, roundtable discussion, overseas conferences, coaching and mentorship.

In addition, the signatories will collaborate on global entrepreneurship to prepare the Sultanate’s entrepreneurs in setting their eyes on international markets and innovating for breakthroughs.

The parties will also set sights on the possibilities of green and sustainable opportunities enabled by digital technologies for the Brunei companies.

DEPA IC and AICC also delivered a presentation on the overall global business landscape, the business opportunities created by DEPA and DEFA as well as green sustainable future.

The ceremony was concluded with the exchange of the momentum of appreciation.
