The Mosque Affairs Department, in collaboration with the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Takmir Committee, conducted a Halaqah Zikir ceremony and inaugurated a book featuring selected Al-Quran Surahs.
The book is intended to enhance the weekly activities at mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide, while aligning with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah of promoting Al-Quran literacy among the people.
The launch aimed to facilitate mosque officers in guiding the congregation and the public in the study of these selected Surahs.
It seeks to improve the reading proficiency of mosque officials in terms of tajweed, ibtida and waqf and deepen their understanding of the Surahs.
The initiative is to establish a regular weekly activity in mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country in becoming a lasting practise.
The book comprises 11 selected Surahs, including guidelines on tajweed, makhrajal huruf, waqf, ibtida and tadabbur for each Surah. Guest of honour, Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, presided over the book’s launch. – Azlan Othman
