The authority recently stated that the rate of diabetes has been increasing at an alarming rate. I believe that sugary drinks being too readily available has something to do with it.
I went to a roadside stall recently and the vendor was selling carbonated drinks at 50 cents a cup to primary school students nearby!
While I applaud certain eateries for incorporating healthy options in their menus, I was astonished to find that they are charging customers BND6 for salad. If one decides to add on a protein, it will be a rather costly meal.
Public awareness could address the scarcity of low-sugar foods by encouraging food importers, restaurateurs and street vendors to support the vision of a healthy nation.
