The newly consented Zakat, Wakaf and Baitulmal Affairs Department was launched on Wednesday at the ground floor of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Previously known as the Zakat Collection and Distribution Division at the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), the freshly minted department was upgraded under the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during a titah delivered on the occasion of the new year 1445 Hijrah on Tuesday.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman in his capacity as the President of MUIB unveiled the new plaque.
