Nursing and midwifery are noble professions that require patience, dedication and selfless attitude. These careers have evolved significantly from bedside care to highly technical and advanced tasks.
This was said by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a Hari Raya Aidilfitiri and International Nurses’ & Midwives’ Days event organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) at Al-’Afiah Hall Nursing yesterday.
The minister said this year’s International Nurses Day theme, ‘Our Nurses, Our Future’, aims to prepare nurses for various global health challenges as well as highlighting the importance of the nursing and midwifery professions in providing comprehensive health services.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said the recent implementation of patient safety at every patient care and treatment is aimed at the Nursing Services Department taking steps to make sure specialist nurses or advanced practice nurses address health and care challenges in the future.
The event was officiated by the minister cutting a pulut kuning followed by a tour of festive stalls.
Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin and Acting Director of Medical and Health Services Pengiran Dr Haji Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail were also present.
