MoD allocated BND334.8M budget

The Ministry of Development (MoD) was allocated a BND334.8-million budget for the financial year of 2022-2023. In support with this year’s budget theme, ‘Strengthening Public Wellbeing towards a More Resilient Socio-Economy’, the MoD will focus on providing sustainable and resilient facilities and infrastructures that emphasise on public well-being as well economic growth.

Minister of Development Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar deliberated the budget allocation during the 18th Legislative Council session yesterday.

According to the minister, BND115.9 million will go to staff salary, BND107.2 million for recurring expenses and BND111.7 million for projects under the 11th Development Plan (RKN 11).

The ministry is committed to carrying out its development plan towards the country’s socio-economic development including providing public infrastructures and facilities in line with Brunei Vision 2035.

The ministry will prioritise strategic matters including improvements on coordination between departments under the ministry; development of public housing under the National Housing Scheme; ensuring water security and clean water supply; providing public infrastructures and facilities that are more resilient as well as carrying out infrastructure projects for disaster and flood mitigation; opening up government lands with potential for mixed development investment; and upholding strategies under the National Climate Change Policy Brunei Darussalam.
