Mobile library visit inspires young readers

Early Year students at the International School Brunei (ISB) Seria Campus were all smiles during a Mobile Library visit on Monday, organised in collaboration with the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Seria Library.

The initiative aimed to introduce students to the joys of reading while helping them become familiar with a library environment. The visit was led by Library Assistant Grade I at DBP Seria Library Adylah bin Kalid.

The students participated in a variety of fun and engaging activities, including storytelling, colouring and reading sessions. They also had the chance to explore the Mobile Library Bus, where shelves lined with colourful books sparked their imagination and curiosity.

The event was further enlivened by the presence of teachers, staff, as well as parents and guardians, who joined in the activities, making the visit a memorable one for the young learners.

Head of ISB Seria Campus Dariush Saheli, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing early literacy and communication skills. “When I was a child, visiting the library with my grandmother was always a joyful experience. We are proud to continue this tradition and bring that same joy and excitement to our children,” he said.

He added that encouraging reading from an early age helps cultivate future leaders, noting, “By developing the readers of today, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow.”

Adylah also shared that the outreach programme is part of DBP’s ongoing efforts to improve accessibility to library services and promote literacy across all age groups. – Daniel Lim
