Missing teen’s body found after four days

The body of a missing 19-year-old local who was swept away by strong current in Batang Duri River was found on Thursday, the fourth day of the search and rescue operation.

The body was found along Biang River around 8.26am, eight kilometres away from the scene of the incident.

The body was discovered by firefighters from Bangar Fire Station led by AB952 Md Shahrizam, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

The body was handed over to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and was brought to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

Commanding Officer of Operation ‘G’ Branch SSFR Haji Afiq bin Haji Julah and Station Commander of Rataie Fire Station Acting DSO Adanan bin Salat led the search and rescue operation.

The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) while conveying its condolences to the victim’s family, advised the public to stay abreast with the weather forecast to prepare for any uncertain weather condition.

It is also important to wear life jackets in any water activities.

The public is also advised against hiking in the dark or during downpours, or venturing into the woods without informing family and friends.

They should also bring along a whistle, torch, mobile phone and water, in case of an emergency.
