Missing hiker found after three-hour search

A hiker reported missing at Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park on Tuesday evening was found nearly five hours later, some 1.8 kilometres from Agro Technology park’s parking area after a three-hour search-and-rescue operation.

Hiking volunteers found the victim without any injuries.

Four firefighters from Jerudong Fire Station led by ASO Isa bin Haji Ahad and five firefighters from the Rimba Fire Station support squad led by ABK 127 Kamaluddin bin Sa’af responded to the incident at 6.40pm.

At the scene, an investigation was carried out in the vicinity of the forest and firefighters moved in to conduct a search based on information shared by the victim with hiking volunteers led by Pengiran Md Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin.

After three hours of searching, there was no sign of the victim in the vicinity. Five members of the company ‘C’ Police Reserve Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force were brought in to assist in the search.

The hiking volunteers searched the Agro Technology Park and found the victim at 11.51pm.
