Ministry, UBD ink agreement for cooperation

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for further cooperation in exchanging knowledge and information as well as research and capacity-building yesterday.

UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle signed on behalf of the university while Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari signed for the ministry.

Director of Administration and Finance at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Halus and Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Corporate and Administration) of UBD Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub acted as witnesses.

The permanent secretary said the MoU signified the agreement to exchange knowledge, visits, data and information in related fields, collaboration in research studies and translation; capacity building and leadership training courses

The MoU also agreed on employment or industry placements according to needs; access to material and resources such as human resources, infrastructure and facilities; opportunities of academic transitional pathways for the target group; and the formation of digital technology, information software and innovation.

The permanent secretary said the signing of the MoU is in line with the “whole-of-nation approach to improve the quality of lives in the country” and the ministry’s strategic objectives, adding that the MoU added to the network of cooperation established with other higher education institutions.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad was the guest of honour. Senior officials from UBD and the MCYS were also present.
