The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports futsal team (Team MCYS) emerged victorious in a friendly futsal match organised by the High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam yesterday. In the friendly tournament at the High Commission’s futsal court, futsal teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and High Commission of Malaysia (HCM) finished second and third places. Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah played for Team HCM.
Senior government officers, Permanent Secretary at the MFA Haji Muhamad Fakhri bin Haji Mohd Taib, Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan also participated in the match.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad was also present.
The futsal match was part of the High Commission’s sports diplomacy to engage with the Bruneian government through sports and to foster closer relations with Brunei government officials. – Lyna Mohamad
