Minister of Education Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh yesterday during her adjournment speech at the Legislative Council (LegCo) said the Ministry of Education (MoE) plays a role in providing programmes and training skills at higher learning institutions in line with current and future industry needs in addressing unemployment issues and the need for job seekers to be empowered with skills and training.
The minister added that these includes strengthening collaboration between learning institutions, local industries and stakeholders, particularly the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC).
Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah added that in encouraging further development of entrepreneurship among youth in the county, the ministry through the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre, is responsible for incorporating entrepreneurial elements at all levels of education implemented through teaching related subjects at Core Education level as well as providing entrepreneurship skills programmes at higher education level.
Such efforts are hoped to uphold His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s call on the importance of developing and empowering the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Sultanate.
The MoE, she added, highly values and continuously seeks collaborative efforts of parents, guardians and members of the public, in cooperating with teachers towards achieving success among children.
The minister also expressed appreciation to all educators who are dedicated in carrying out their duties.
