The Ministry of Development (MoD) and its departments began their annual Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony at the ministry’s surau in observance of Ramadhan.
This year’s ceremony, organised by the Survey Department, will run for three weeks and culminate in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony on March 27 at Kampong Beribi Mosque.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, the guest of honour, officiated the event. Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the MoD (Construction Industry and Development) Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub, (Corporate and Law) Aldila binti Haji Mohamad Salleh and (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar, alongside senior officials, heads of departments and ministry staff were also present.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah led by representatives from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, along with qari and qariah participants from the ministry. The event concluded with a supplication after the recitation of Al-Quran.
The initiative aims to foster spiritual reflection and strengthen religious ties among MoD officers and staff during the holy month of Ramadhan. – Fadley Faisal
