The Ministry of Defence held a Nuzul Al-Quran celebration and the presentation of donations to orphans and asnaf groups at Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque in Belait District yesterday.
The event began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses, followed by a special tazkirah titled ‘Akal Sihat Dengan Al-Quran’, delivered by Staff Officer Grade 1 Religious Training, the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) Lieutenant Colonel Ariffin bin Amit @ Hamid.
The tazkirah highlighted that a sound mind is a divine gift from Allah the Almighty that must be nurtured with knowledge, while Al-Quran serves as the primary guide in shaping rational and critical thinking.
The donations, under the Ihya’ and Ramadhan Outreach Programme, were handed to five orphans and 20 asnaf recipients from Kampong Sungai Teraban by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Similar events were also held simultaneously at all suraus in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces camps.
Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan and Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad were also present. – Daniel Lim
