The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) yesterday denied issuing a document suggesting that the payment of ‘investment tax’ be settled through certain officials.
“The MoFE has never issued such a letter or document, nor approved any investment scheme that promises large returns,” it said in a statement.
“At the same time, MoFE will also not appoint any agency or individual to handle tax collection through online payments to private accounts,” the ministry said, following a number of complaints received regarding the false document.
In the statement, the Revenue Division at the MoFE advised that payment for income or corporate taxes are usually made through payment counters at the division or online bill payment through the following bank details:
– Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam: Payment to BIBD Payee “STARS TAX PAYMENT FOR MOFE REVENUE DIVISION”.
– Baiduri Bank: Payment to Baiduri Biller “SYSTEM FOR TAX ADMINISTRATION AND REVENUE SERVICES STARS”.
