The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) held a donation presentation to orphans and charitable aid recipients contributed by officers and staff of the MinDef at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was in attendance.
Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the acting permanent secretary at the MinDef, Joint Force Commander of the RBAF, deputy permanent secretaries at the MinDef, civilian and military directors, officers and personnel of the MinDef and RBAF were also present.
The event began with a mass Zohor prayer, led by imam at Surau Ad-Difa’ Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh followed by a recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa led by Religious Teacher at the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) Mohd Noramin bin Haji Jali. Similar events were also held concurrently at Civilian Administration Office branches in other districts – Tutong, Lumut and Bangar camps.
The donation is part of the MinDef’s initiative to ease the financial burden of the less fortunate in preparation for the Hari Raya AidilFitri celebration.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (MoRA) Tedarus ceremony, held at several mosques nationwide in the month of Ramadhan, ended with a Khatam Al-Quran yesterday.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was present at the event held at Religious Activity Hall in Kampong Bebuloh.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by Tadabbur Al-Quran by Dakwah Propagation Unit at Islamic Da’wah Centre Religious Officer Muhammad Nasyith bin Superi.
It was followed by Khatam Al-Quran, recitation of Tahlil, Doa Khatam, Doa Arwah and ended with Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
The event aimed to strengthen ties between the ministry and village residents.

The Ministry of Development (MoD) it held a Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil recitation for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid led a delegation of 300 officers and staff.
Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria; Acting Director General of Public Works Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar; heads of departments and division and unit heads at the ministry were also present.
The recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil was led by Kampong Lumapas Mosque officer Haji Ahmad bin Haji Mohd Hassan.
The event is an annual activity organised by the ministry in conjunction with Ramadhan.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Examinations Department in collaboration with the National Education Council Secretariat and the Education Technology Centre, held Tedarus ceremony at Kampong Belimbing Mosque in Kampong Subok yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad attended.
The event began with the presentation of waqaf in the form of electrical goods by Dr Haji Azman to Mosque Affairs Officer Pengiran Mohd Akbar bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Sabri, followed by the Tedarus ceremony.
