    Ministers observe back-to-school activities

    Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh paid a working visit to three schools, in conjunction with the beginning of the 2024 academic year, yesterday.

    The schools visited were Pengkalan Batu Primary School, Batang Mitus Primary School and Lumapas Primary School.

    The ministers were welcomed at Pengkalan Batu Primary School by the school’s headmistress Noriah binti Haji Sarudin.

    They witnessed the back-to-school activities held at the school hall, interacted with teachers and students and shared motivational words.

    The ministers continued their working visit to Batang Mitus Primary School where they were received by the school’s headmistress Rokiah binti Haji Maidin.

    The ministers visited classrooms and observed teaching and learning sessions on religious subjects after integration.

    Lumapas Primary School headmistress Hasdinah Faranom binti Haji Mohd Hassan welcomed the delegation at the last stop.

    The ministers inspected the school’s infrastructure to ensure it is conducive for teaching and learning sessions.

    They also witnessed the initiatives in support of the implementation of the Amendment to the Compulsory Education Act (APW) Chapter 211 of compulsory school age from six to five years old.

    Also joining the delegation were heads of departments and senior officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

    The visit aimed to observe the implementation of back-to-school activities, inspect school infrastructure and facilities including pre-school classrooms, teachers’ rooms, school halls, canteen, prayer area, ablution area and libraries, while taking into account the implementation of the Amendment to the APW Chapter 211 of compulsory school age from six to five, the integration of religious subjects into general education system and the implementation of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) programme.
