Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman continued his working visits to schools on Monday to observe face-to-face learning on the second day of the second school term for students aged five to 11.
The minister witnessed the implementation of back-to-school activities – Siuknya Ke Sekolah Programme, standard operating procedures (SOPs), student learning survey (SLS) and facilities to curb COVID-19, such as an antigen rapid test (ART) screening room and a self-isolation room.
The Siuknya Ke Sekolah Programme activities comprise orientation sessions, motivational talks and religious programmes. The SLS, on the other hand, is aimed at assessing the learning gaps between students during the temporary closure of schools due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah visited three primary schools in Tutong District – Dato Pemancha Saging Ukong Primary School, Penapar Primary School and Lubok Pulau Primary School.
Dato Pemancha Saging Ukong Primary School Headmistress Tinidiana binti Haji Boharuddin welcomed the entourage while in Penapar Primary School, they were greeted by Headmistress Christine Corvinna binti Sinu. At Lubok Pulau Primary School, the minister was received by Headmistress Siti Nurhidayah binti Abdullah Tujoh.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah inspected the school infrastructure and facilities such as classrooms, libraries and computer labs as well as interacted with teachers and students during the tour of the schools.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh visited three primary schools in Brunei-Muara District – Tanah Jambu Primary School, Mentiri Primary School and Dato Mohd Yassin Primary School.
The deputy minister was welcomed by headmistresses Aliyah Damia binti Abdullah Lim and Sarimah binti Haji Lusin as well as Acting Headmaster Mohd Razaliegh bin Haji Md Zain. She witnessed several activities and talked with parents, guardians, teachers and students during the visits.
