Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman visited Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM) on February 7 to inspect the school’s COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as talk with the teachers and students.

The visit followed the recent announcement that Years 11, 12 and 13 students can screen for COVID-19 using antigen rapid test (ART) kit at home starting February 7. It is aimed at speeding up the testing process and giving students and teachers more class time.

PTEM Principal Moss Mat Juni welcomed the minister on arrival before giving the visitor a tour of the school facilities.

The minister was briefed on mental health issues regarding the transition from home-based learning (HBL) as well as programmes employed by the school’s counsellor. Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah in his motivational talk to the students, advised them to seek consultation regarding their future careers.

In a dialogue session with the teachers, the minister encouraged collaboration with others within and without the school to increase resilience and empathy while building character.
