Minister visits religious schools

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman continued monitoring the integration of religious classes with visits to Beribi and Katok religious schools at the start of the first term this year.

The visits were an annual event by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) to observe learning and teaching at religious schools as well as school infrastructures and facilities for the provision of high quality and effective religious education.

Beribi Religious School’s headmistress Hajah Jamaliah binti Haji Yasin said the integration has led to more facilities provided to meet the demands of religious schooling including a special education room.

At Katok Religious School, the minister was briefed by headmistress Norshuhada binti Haji Moksin.

Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin underlined the integration of religious subjects for Years 1 to 3 students into general education system and the need to strengthen religious education as an important element in the national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).

The minister also highlighted the provision of quality education and lauded efforts to support the integration.

As for the future, he spelt out efforts to put Islamic history in the context of Brunei Darussalam such as the Castille war, which showcased the bravery and the fighting spirit of the people of Brunei in defending the nation from external influences.
