Minister holds dialogue session with Singapore SMP participants

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman yesterday held a dialogue session with participants of the 30th Senior Management Programme (SMP), Singapore at the Multaqa Hall of the ministry, chaired by Singaporean High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Heng Aik Yeow.

The minister said that the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) is the model of Brunei’s statehood by philosophising its historical and cultural values as well as adapting religious best practices.

The minister expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries, established in the 1950’s, will continue to strengthen under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who understands the values of the existing ties.

Meanwhile, the session saw issues surrounding religious services being highlighted. The dialogue provided participants with understanding of the main developments in the Sultanate and explore ways to further strengthen the countries’ mutual ties in the long run. – Rokiah Mahmud
