“As a citizen of Brunei Darussalam, the responsibility of defending the sovereignty of the monarch and preserving a nation that practises the principles of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) should become the basis and pillar of life,” said Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman during the 35th Citizenship Certificate Presentation at the Bridex Hall, Jerudong yesterday.

“We need to understand, practise and maintain pure values of life as Bruneians, embrace traditions and nobility, show loyalty to the monarch and religion, be courteous, helpful and respect the right of everyone to belong. It is also a duty of the citizen of the country to comply with the law and regulations,” the minister added.

He also highlighted the responsibility of citizens and the need to support the policies that have been enacted by the government as they are important elements to the system of administration and government for the development, prosperity, security and welfare of citizens and residents of the Sultanate.

He then congratulated the new citizens and hoped that they will cherish the gift not only through pledges of loyalty but also through daily deeds and practices.
