Preserving sacred knowledge serves to benefit one’s self, family and the nation, said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman in an address during the 12th Haflut Takharruj ceremony of the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) at the International Convention Centre, in Berakas yesterday.
The minister also expressed gratitude for the continuous support of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and praised graduates for their dedication.
The minister highlighted the significance of the institute’s international recognition.
“In 2014, the ITQSHHB was awarded the His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud International Award, solidifying its role in promoting Quranic education,” he said.
The institute, established in 1993 as a personal initiative of His Majesty, aims to produce Quranic scholars who can contribute to various sectors, not just religious services.
The programme is aligned with the national education policy, providing students with a well-rounded curriculum that includes both religious and general subjects, preparing them for further studies or careers in various fields. – Fadley Faisal
