Minister checks up on mosque, school projects

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman visited several sites yesterday.

The delegation first visited a mosque under construction in Kampong Junjongan.

Construction of the mosque, funded by the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund, began on September 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of next month. It costs BND4.9 million and can accommodate 1,600 congregants.

The minister then visited Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School’s (SMALHB) new block that will be completed in the first quarter of next year. The block, with additional classrooms, is funded by the 11th National Development Plan (RKN 11).

The delegation continued their visits to a new mosque in RPN Kampong Rimba that began construction in July and due to be completed by November next year. The mosque, costing BND3.6 million and can accommodate 2,000 congregants is funded by RKN 11.

The visits were aimed at monitoring the progress and ensuring the smooth running of the projects while adhering to the specifications and schedules. – Rokiah Mahmud
