Minister calls on volunteers to work towards inclusivity

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s (Yayasan) volunteer platform will have room for every level of the community to contribute to ensuring an environment that is conducive to inclusivity, thus members need to work together to meet the mission while realising Brunei Vision 2035.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, who is also a member of the Yayasan Board of Directors and Chairman for the Yayasan Aid Review Committee said this during an event to extend appreciation to Yayasan volunteers on Saturday.

The minister also said despite there being a host of assistance programmes and volunteer activities, there are still people out there facing hardship in the Sultanate. As such, he welcomed suggestions to improve the Community Development Department’s (JAPEM) National Welfare System (SKN).

He also urged the leaders of the volunteer group to develop programmes with an aim of improving organisation and capacity.

The Yayasan volunteer group was established on January 9, 2005 and it currently boasts 2,934 registered members. – Lyna Mohamad
