The people of Brunei Darussalam highly appreciate the wise leadership and wisdom of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in spearheading the country’s administration, bringing about various progress and development that Brunei enjoys in a peaceful and prosperous environment, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof said.
He said this at the ‘Semarak Hari Keputeraan’ programme held by the Information Department through its Nationhood Unit to enliven His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration at the theatre hall of the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.
Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi attending the event as the guest of honour said; “His Majesty’s government has always paid serious attention to maintaining the welfare and well-being of the people and prioritising Islamic teachings as part of an axis that catalyses progress and prosperity as well as safety of the country.”
He added, “Alhamdulilah, His Majesty’s concern was translated into the implementation of the National Retirement Scheme (SPK), announced in His Majesty’s titah during the audience and investiture ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration at Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana of Istana Nurul Iman recently.
“This clearly reflected His Majesty’s deep concern for the people, which continues to be the priority in drafting every development plan for the Sultanate.”
The minister also attended a talk on ‘Pengukuhan Maqasid Syariah Pemangkin Kemakmuran dan Kesejahteraan Negara’ by the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan’s Syariah Faculty Dean Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, who highlighted the importance of preserving religion, life, common thinking, descendants and property.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s event called on the people of Brunei to pledge their undivided loyalty as well as love for the monarch to ensure the relationship between His Majesty and the people will continue to prosper. – James Kon
