The 12th Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day Mini Expo at Dewan Muhibbah, Jalan Airport Lama in Berakas concluded yesterday, with members of the public expressing hopes that it will be held again in an effort to highlight local entrepreneurs and their products.
Meanwhile, one of the participants of the mini expo, Treasurer of Koperasi Persatuan Ikatan Kampong Tanah Jambu (PITA) Hajah Nuayah binti Haji Hasjim, shared that the public response to the products from their cooperative, particularly rambutans and coconuts, was encouraging.
Some 65 entrepreneurs participated in the expo, developing business relations and cooperation to further boost their companies, said Deputy Permanent Secretary I at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Haji Mohd Yusree bin Haji Junaidi in his closing remarks at the ceremony.
Yesterday, awards and prizes were also presented to winners of various contest of vegetables, fruits, ornamental flowers, local commodities and decorative fish.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented prizes in her capacity as Acting Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
The four-day expo began on November 3. Throughout the event, programmes and activities, such as seminars from agricultural and fishing operators, business matching from several companies and product demonstrations, were held.
Products of fisheries, agricultural and agrifood operators and farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen from all four districts were also on sale during the expo.
