The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) commenced a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony with the focal event at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison to mark the beginning of Ramadhan yesterday. The function also marked the start of the annual MinDef Ihya Ramadhan and Ramadhan Outreach programme.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Acting Permanent Secretary at the MinDef, senior leadership, as well as officers and personnel from MinDef and the RBAF attended the event.
The function began with Isyak prayers, Sunnat Tarawih and Sunnat Witir prayers, followed by a tazkirah. The Tedarus Al-Quran continued with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister.
Similar religious functions also took place at the RBAF suraus and Masjid Pulau Baru-Baru.
The function hoped to move officers and staff of MinDef and RBAF towards Fastabiqul Khairat (striving to do good deeds).
