Muslims should not be too excessive in joking and jesting to the extent that politeness and good manners are lost, Imams said in the Friday sermon on Friday.
Imams added that joking and jesting are permissible in Islam. Imams said jokes are for the purpose of being friendly or to please others and said one should not spread lies while joking.
Excessive joking and jesting may cause our heart to harden and lead one to neglect the remembrance of Allah the Almighty.
