Merangking, Kandul in Belait District face floods following heavy rainfall

Following torrential rainfall that occurred overnight, several low-lying areas in the Belait District were flooded yesterday, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

Among the affected areas were Simpang 1366, Kampong Merangking Hilir, and Jalan Kandul both located at Mukim Bukit Sawat where flooding of 0.53 metres (m) and 0.55m were observed by the FRD.

Other low-lying areas in the district remain unaffected by the heavy rain.

According to the FRD’s flood monitoring on Sunday, Mukim Rambai, Mukim Ukong and Mukim Lamunin in Tutong District were affected by floods due to constant heavy downpour for the past days. Several roads in Mukim Bukit Sawat and Mukim Rambai were affected by flood and were inaccessible by saloon as well as 4×4 vehicles. – Daniel Lim
