The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) issued a BND300 compound fine on a man for littering at a public premise at the entrance to Meragang Beach.
Alim Hossain disposing litter from a vehicle, was caught on a CCTV camera.
The fine was issued under Section 12(1) Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act. The man was given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, a further fine of no less than BND1,000 and no more than BND3,000 will be handed.
Subsequent offences will see a penalty of no less than BND3,000 and no more than BND9,000 fine or imprisonment of no less than six months.
