Mental health in focus

Baiduri Bank has made strides in fostering mental well-being among its employees through its Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI).

“Events like this play a role in breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, reinforcing the idea that it is a shared responsibility, not just an individual one,” said Baiduri Bank Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Banking Manuel Bulens during an event focusing on mental health awareness and workplace well-being, in celebration of World Mental Health Day, at the South Lawn of Baiduri Bank headquarters on Sunday.

The event, attended by Deputy British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Catherine Pochkhanawala-Cleeve and United States Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Caryn R McClelland, is in line with this year’s theme, ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’.

The bank has introduced a range of innovative initiatives as part of its EWI, aimed at cultivating a culture of holistic well-being within the organisation. The initiatives include Feel Good Fridays and the BN on the Move corporate challenge.

The bank also hosts its annual Workplace Wellness Forum and regularly organises activities that prioritise mental, physical, spiritual and financial health.

The commitment also aligns with Brunei Vision 2035’s goal of promoting a high quality of life through healthy lifestyles, underscoring the importance of fostering a healthier and more productive workforce.

Attendees participated in a unique art therapy session facilitated by the ASEAN Youth Advocates Network (AYAN), providing a creative platform to explore emotions and mental well-being through art.
